Patent Infringement Update
DATONG PLC (DTE.L), the designer and manufacturer of advanced high performance intelligence gathering equipment, is pleased to announce that the Group has won its first UK order for the affected Third Party products since resuming its marketing activity in the UK following a four month interruption.
On 3 August 2009, DATONG announced that marketing had resumed in the UK following a High Court judgement holding that certain variants of the Third Party product range do not infringe the patent in question.
Whilst not a substantial value, the Board believe that the order win represents an important step in re-establishing the Group's market position for these products in the influential UK Law Enforcement market. Furthermore, taking into consideration the previously announced order wins in the Rest of World markets during June 2009, the Board believes that this contract reaffirms the Group's strategy and confidence in the Third Party product range in all its geographic markets.
