Paul Lever (67) - Non Executive Chairman

Paul Lever

Paul joined DATONG as Chairman in September 2005. He also acts as Chairman in a number of other organisations. He was formerly the Chairman of the National Criminal Intelligence Service ('NCIS') and the National Crime Squad ('NCS'), non-executive Chairman of BSM Group plc and Oxford Aviation Holdings Ltd and Chief Executive of Tube Investments – small appliance operations, Crown Paints, Crown Berger and Lionheart plc. His early career included time in both the regular Army and in the Territorial Army, where he served in Defence Intelligence.

Brian Smith (63) - Chief Executive Officer

Brian Smith

Brian joined Datong in November 1998 as Sales Director and became Chief Executive in July 2000. He previously spent 30 years with AGEMA Infrared Systems AB, the Swedish manufacturer of Forward Looking Infra-Red equipment, of which 15 years were spent as the Managing Director of their UK operations.

Stephen Ayres (38) - Finance Director and Company Secretary

Stephen Ayres

Stephen joined Datong as Finance Director and Company Secretary in October 2006. Previously he held positions as Managing Director for the UK division of the international healthcare group Attendo AB and a number of senior financial and M&A roles within Rolls Royce plc. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1993.

Dean Blood (44) - Chief Operating Officer

Dean Blood

Dean was appointed to the Board as Chief Operating Officer having joined Datong in September 2008. He was formally at Rolls-Royce plc where he led lean supply chain growth strategies in both their global Marine and Civil Sector Chain Operations. Prior to this, he was Procurement Director for UK based programs for four years. Dean has a significant engineering and operations background from his time in Aerospace, Defence and telecommunications sectors service with Smiths Industries, BTR plc and Chloride respectively.

Grant Ashley (50) Non Executive Director

Grant Ashley

Grant joined the Board of DATONG in June 2006. He is Vice President of Global Security and Crisis Management at Merck & Co Inc. He previously held a variety of roles within the United Stated Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) culminating in his appointment in May 2004 as executive assistant director for Law Enforcement Services until his retirement in January 2006. He qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in 1980 and currently serves as a council member of the American institute of Certified Public Accountants.

James Cooke (40) Non Executive Director

James Cooke

James became a Non-Executive Director in November 2006 having joined Datong as Finance Director in May 2000. He is also Finance Director of Idatech PLC. He previously held a number of senior financial and operational positions within Investec Group. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in July 1990.

Louis Quijas - President of Datong Electronics Inc (US subsidiary)

Louis Quijas

Louis joined the US subsidiary, Datong Electronics Inc., in August 2008. A police officer for 25 years and Chief of Police for six years, he was assistant director at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), heading the Office of Law Enforcement Coordination in Washington DC. He has been a member of a number of boards including the International Association of Police Chiefs (ICAP) and the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS). He is a recognised leader in the security sector having established the FBI's program for Strategic co-ordination with law enforcement partners following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Simon Marker (39) - Head of Research & Development

Simon Marker

Simon joined Datong in 1992 as a Development Engineer becoming the Head of Research and Development in 2000.

PAUL MOORE (39) - Head of Sales (Cellular)

Paul Moore

Paul joined Datong in April 2004 having worked in the security sector since 2001 and following 8 years with Hewlett-Packard.

Stuart Flack (42) - Head of Sales (Tracking)

Stuart Flack

Stuart joined Datong in September 1998 as Head of Operations and became Head of Sales (Tracking) in September 2008. He has worked in manufacturing for over 21 years within a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive and pharmaceutical. He is also a Direct of Electronics Yorkshire Limited, a training and networking organisation.
